Gainesville (FL) Alumni Chapter History

The Gainesville (FL) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. (formerly known as the Ocala (FL) Alumni Chapter) was chartered on December 12, 1951 in Ocala, Florida. The Chapter included members from the Ocala, Gainesville, and Lake City areas.

On May 27, 1971, the name was changed to the Gainesville (FL) Alumni Chapter. This move afforded the Gainesville (FL) Alumni Chapter an opportunity to assist in the formation and to serve as the advisory chapter for the Zeta Phi Chapter at the University of Florida.

For over seven decades, the Gainesville Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. has been a beacon of service and leadership in Gainesville and the surrounding communities. Contributions include youth mentoring and literacy programs, scholarships, volunteering at nonprofits, clothing drives, voter registration initiatives, political and social action, civic engagement, and more.
