Scholarship Chair: Brother Larry Purnell
The chapter demonstrates a sustained commitment to educational advancement through the Dr. E. A. Cosby Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to deserving high school seniors within Alachua County. To ensure transparency, accountability, and alignment with local educational priorities, the chapter administers this scholarship through the Education Foundation of Alachua County, a recognized nonprofit organization that serves as the official pass-through entity. As a result, the Chapter awards $1000 scholarships (# determined annually) to deserving high school seniors while maintaining an effective partnership with external stakeholders.
The scholarship is named in honor of Brother Cosby was the first black dentist to serve on the state of Florida Board of Dentistry.
